PPKUKM Organizes Workshop on Doll-Making with Fabric Scraps

Jakarta Creative Hub (JCH), Ministry of Tourism and Creative/Creative Economy Agency, and REcycle EXPerience (RE_EXP) held an activity to raise awareness about the importance of sustanability creativity through a "Doll-making Workshop from Fabric Scraps".

In commemoration of National Creative Economy Day, the activity featured two talented artists, Evan Driyananda and Attina Nuraini.

Participants from JakPreneur and other creative entrepreneurs were invited to make dolls from leftover fabric.

Evan shared that RE_EXP experiments with non-organic household waste, turning them into vivid pop art-inspired creations.

He hopes that such activities would open new opportunities for local creative entrepreneurs to continue innovating and contributing to Jakarta's sustainable economy.

"We want to show that artistic creativity can go hand in hand with environmental awareness. Fabric scraps that are usually considered as waste can become a fun and educational medium of expression," he said, Thursday (10/30).

Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, and Small Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, stated that Jakarta Creative Hub, driven by a spirit of collaboration and sustainability, continues to strengthen its role as a space for ideas, innovation, and concrete action among the city's creative generation, serving as a hub for creative communities.

She noted that Jakarta PPKUKM Agency and Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency are fully committed to positioning Jakarta as a leading promoter of Gig Economy growth.

Ratu added that this activity proves creativity can grow from simple things—even from leftover materials, one can create more valuable products.

"We fully support this collaboration as part of our efforts to promote a sustainable and environmentally friendly creative economy," she asserted.

Meanwhile, Chairul Shaleh, Deputy Assistant for Productivity Enhancement and Employment Ecosystem Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, emphasized that the creative economy is a major contributor to the future economy.

According to him, the key of this ecosystem lies in strong collaboration and synergy with creative communities. The government will optimize the Gig Economy through creative spaces, focusing on mentoring and competitive opportunities.

"It's important to emphasize selling skills, not just product-making," he mentioned.
